Mailmerge using OLE automation...

Sorry to use such archaic terms, but years ago I remember writing a routine that produced a nice tidy mailmerge based on a query without firing up additional instances of access. It was in VB 3.0. Is such a thing possible in Access 97?

Also does anyone know why Word 97 varies the distance from header to first line of body apparently at random? Am I missing service pack?
