Macola 6.2 Error 014

I am new to Macola and this is an old system, we are running macola 6.2 on a Novell 3.12 server.

When we try to post invoices from c.o.p. to a/r we get the error 014 too many files open simultanesusly.

and need to check shellcfg.sys is this what I need to do? and if so where is it?

Shut down as many users as possible and get them out of Macola. You may need to stop and start brieve on the server. (I am assumming you are running btrieve).

I have alrteady gotten everyone out and had no more luck. as far as btrieve, How would I know?

Getting everyone out is not the same as starting and stopping the service on the server.

Once in Macola, go to System Mainager, Mainain, company file and on the first page there is a database type flag (or words to that effect). This will be either a b (for Btrieve) or an M (for Microfocus).

If it is a B, go to the server and perform a BSTOP, wait for 5 minutes and perform a BSTART. Then go back into Macola and try to post invoices.

If it is an M, you need help right away........and I'm not sure who can help you.

You need a files setting in autoexec.bat or in your environment variables so files are > 100 or 120. You are microfocus if your files have dat & idx extensions, a btrieve install has btr extensions in the macola\data folders. Depending on what client workstation you are using, some local settings may need to be tweaked. You are really playing with fire if you are continuing to run your business on this network OS with this version of the software. If you still have a macola reseller, call them for help or ask one of us that has had experience with this version of the macola product.
