Hello there, its great to see a forum dedicated to the humble
modem. Ill try to keep this short. I have a laptop which is
currently using a loaned Psion Dacom Gold Card Global modem, 56k
plus fax. When it connects to the net, it connects (after a long
delay at the verify user/password) at anywhere between 37-44
bps. The reason I am loaning this one, is that my factory
shipped LT winmodem connects quicker, at between 50-52 bps (with
fewer DUN errors, to the same ISP) but it wont stay connected
for more than 10 mins.I have attached a part of the modem log
which may relate to the disconnections, but its fairly
consistant, between 8 to 10 mins. You can tell when its close to
disconnecting, as when you hit a link on a page, the little tv
icons dont flash much, and the browser goes no where, 1 min
later I get disconnected. Its the "raise CD level" in the log
that intrigues me, as it doesnt appear in the Global Modem Log.
System details below.
