Hi everyone,

I have chosen to purchase 3 new HP Deskjet 960C printers to replace our aging 690C/693C printers.

I am delighted that HP - finally - introduced a low ink indicator.

I have just 1 query, how do you know if it refers to the black or colour cartridge? and how low does the level go before the light comes on? If you're not sure which cartridge it relates to, can you see through the black cartridge when it's empty/nearly empty, as you could on the 690C?

I would appreciate your advice.

Regards,
Jay

Use the HP Toolbox software supplied with the driver. When you go into it, it indicates this sort of info.

Hi,

I have subsequently found out that the software pops up a message indicating that the black or colour is low on ink EVEN BEFORE the light comes on the printer.

Then, when you open the cover the carriage moves to a pre-printed indicator on the casing to show whether the black/colour is low or even completely empty.

And, as you say, you can go into the toolbox to check the approximate ink level.

Super !

Regards,
Jay
