Low-High Voltage Problems

My D825TM monitor should work on voltages between 220 and 240; my
power grid delivers between 194 and 253 Volts (Voltage vary during the
day). Is it damaging for monitor if voltages are less than 220, and is
it also damaging when they are more than 240? How it is manifested? By
the way, my monitor flickers sometimes. Also, how does this problem
influence the power supply?

P.S. My On-Line UPS doesn't help.
 
Look for "line conditioner" in google...it may be what you need.
I got lots of hits...too numerous to list...

I think you need an UPS. Buy the Start model - it can to make the output voltage more stable. It also have data interface to communicate with computer to provide information about its state, batteries, input voltage, loading etc.
 
There are 2 general types of UPS, cheap and good. Cheap varieties only kick in when the voltage drops very low (ie. power failure). The good ones (more expensive) power your system from the battery all the time. This gives you clean, conditioned power.
 
I would expect everything to be just fine. The switch-mode power supplies used in monitors and computers are highly tolerant of such supply fluctuations as yours, as they have built-in regulation.
Only consider a UPS if the voltage falls so low that the equipment actually switches off, you get frequent power cuts, or your current, active, unsaved computer work is invaluable
Your monitor flickering could be caused by many things, but possibly 'spikes' on the supply are the reason, as your supply seems a bit unstable. You could perhaps try a suitable filter in the supply lead? My suggestions are what I would try myself. If incorrect, I welcome corrections to my rather limited knowledge. Andy.
 
hotfusion, I hope you're right. My fear is that my components will die
(something is roaring inside the case, my guess is PSU's fan). Because
of that fear I have APC E20-G surge arrest and an on-line UPS. This
particular Line Interactive UPS had AVR (Automatic Voltage
Regulation), but, thanks to UPS's low quality, it doesn't anymore. When
input Voltage was less than 202, UPS's output Voltage was around 230;
when the input was higher than 238 Volts, the output was higher than
208. It's now stuck in that "high Voltage mode" and since my input
(power grid Voltage)is usually between 230 and 240, my PC receives
only 200-210V.

I checked with Mother Board Monitor 5 (freeware) internal Voltages
(3.3, 5, 12) and they are fine. I read that PSU has to draw more
amperage when the input voltage is low and that more heat is created
in the process (we all know that heat is not welcome).

HOTFUSION, from your reply I understood that monitors also have power
supplies. Is there any information about monitor's necessary internal
Voltage values? Are there any information about PSU's high-low voltage
tolerance? I mean, is it safe for them to work on less than 200 and
more than 250 Volts?
