losing IP

hello..I have a 3Com cable modem and I keep on losing internet connection. I keep to keep on having to release/renew my IP. I brought my computer to my frinds down the street who has ADSL.....and my computer worked fine. On the cable modem......the power and connecting green lights are solid, and the data transfer light blink every now and then.

I had a similar problem a couple of mounts ago, the problem was the cables in the building. Your ISP can probably see if you have any problems with the cables when you wait on the phone.

well cable modem work there best kepping singal at less then -10 restines the old 5 wires can lose this a lot try switching to 6 core and test the restinse on the line the best is -0.1 but under -10 is good gunthnp
