I've had issues with One X Portal but have it finally configured properly where almost everything works. Now, when I login to a user in the Portal, they have voicemail listed in which you can play and listen to. Unfortunately, there is no audio when it is playing. I've researched this problem that I need to have web based audio enabled on IE, that didn't work. I even enabled audio through client settings for RDP(its how I enter the server 2008), that didn't work. I've also read that I need to follow the instructions below in which I get into LAN settings and do not know where to go from there if someone can assist. I also read I need to do this, Which method or solution will allow me listen to voicemail over the PC? Thank you!

Proxy Server Exceptions
The playback of voicemail messages on your computer requires the IP address of the voicemail server to be entered into your browsers list of proxy server exceptions.

• Internet Explorer
Select Tools | Internet Options | Connections | LAN settings | Advanced. Enter the IP address of the voicemail server in the Exceptions list.
• Google Chrome
Click on the customize icon and select Options. Select Under the Hood and click on Change proxy settings. Select Connections | LAN settings | Advanced. Enter the IP address of the voicemail server in the Exceptions list.
• Firefox
Select Tools | Options | Network | Setting | Manual proxy configuration. Enter the IP address of the voicemail server in the No proxy for list.

I had a very similar problem on 8.1. Basically, playing on 1XP worked inside the enterprise, but they wanted to map 1xp.company.com from outside, and everything worked in 1XP from outside/thru FW except playing the voicemails with (IIRC) the same results you're having.

Wiresharking it, we found that the name 1xp.company.com wasn't resolving internally to the portal webpage as its using http to contact VMPro and get your voicemail. Even though it was running on the same box.

I think it had something to do with how things internally were getting DNS vs how stuff external got DNS, but if you look at a packet level when you press play on the VM, you should see some attempt at an interaction to do that, and if you're lucky, maybe see something as simple as I had to deal with. Though it did take me 3 hours at the time.

Each user had this issue before the 9.0.2 version of One X Portal. Is there a configuration I am missing? I checked each user and they do have Vxxxx (xxxx=extension number) listed under the source number. I do not believe the users use this on the phone, they use it at their desk PC. The users do not RDP to the server to use the application. They simply get onto the portal through the URL I provided them.

Any other suggestions?

It seems that when I click the play button, it will play the voicemail on the 'phone' based off the profile chosen for the user. When I edit the profile to choose listen in web browser, I get a message stating 'cannot play back messages as the voicemail web service is not configured. Please select 'phone' mode to play back voice messages on your desk phone.

Is UMS well installed?
If not, you cannot listen messages from a web browser in One-X.

To verify UMS is well installed:
You can try to reach UMS on the server
To install it, run VoiceMail Pro installation and add "Web Voicemail" feature.

So I tried installing voicemail Pro by choosing the 'modify' feature. It displays list of items I can install. "Web server voicemail" is not an option. The voicemail Pro is on a Windows 7 machine. The 'Web server voicemail' option is available in Windows Server 2008 as an option. Any ideas why its available on the server based OS and not Windows 7?

Thank you!

Why is voicemail pro installed on windows 7 and not on the same server as one-x portal?

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!
