Hello all,

Heres my setup. I have a linksys Cable router,1 public IP (68.xxx.xxx.xxx),DHCP. I have a FBII i want to bring into the picture. Is this possible with 1 Public ip? If so, how?

THanks!!

I think i know what you are after.

I too have a linksys cable router that was my main router/nat device. What is best to do is disable the dhcp and port forwarding services on the linksys router (basically making it a normal switch) then you put your cable modem into the "external" port of your firebox and your linksys router/switch into the "trusted" port. Then set up the firebox for DHCP (unless you have another DHCP server on your network) and set up all the services you need.

Here is what i have done. A DSL line goes to the Linksys router WAN port, from any other port on the router, plug into the external port on the FB (I have a 700).
(*as a side note i did have to place a 10meg hub between the two devices because the ports were auto sensing network speed from each other. This never let them begin communication because they were constantly checking speed. this locked them at a speed that is still a LOT faster than DSL.)
Then from the internal port on the FB I went to my network. You can use DHCP on FB or an internal PC. VPN is capable by using port forwarding on the router, and forwarding ports (don't quote me on this check Watchguard.com.) 1723 and 49 on to the firebox external address.

Hope this helps someone!

David

Everyday is after the one before.
