Does any one know how to convert this phone to sip. I have found the firmware but the instructions are in French. I have used a translator to read it but I'm missing something. The zip file I found has the firmware and software to install a TFTP server on your Windows machine. The instructions (IN French) say something about changing the first line in 3 files, I have tried this with no success. On the TFTP server you can see the phone come in and grab a the file but it just gets stuck on "Trying to Download". I have also tried using HTTP on the phone with no success. If anyone wants the firmware let me know I'll post a link.

normally a LIP-8830 is a sip phone so I don´t know what you want to convert or do you want to
make just an normal upgrade?

The IP 8830 that I have is designed to run on a MGCP System and needs to have the firmware updated to run SIP. On the web interface it only shows the MGCP settings. I'm looking for someone that has the instructions to update the firmware. I've seen web shots of the SIP firmware web interface and the one on my phone doesn't have the same settings. Maybe the phone I have is a little older. Your username and password from your other post worked on getting into this phone.

I could send you the 88xx installer guide (in english; post your mail address if you want it)
for SIP where the upgrade is explained but as I have never seen a phone with
MGCP software I don´t know if it is helpful for you.

Thanks xs650 that would be great. Please send it to twohuck at hotmail dot com.

Thanks for the help xs650. I got the phone working, but I can only make calls not receive them. I'm using a PBX in a Flash system that is only about a month or so old. Other IP phones work fine on this system. What kind of system are you using? I'm using S/W Version 1.1.04spbx_a on my IP8830. If you need it I can send it to you. Do you have any ideas about the one way calling?

sorry, I only use the scm software for iPECS systems and not the spbx version,
so I have no experience with it.
Witk iPECS one way calling can happen when I set a wrong router IP or when
I have a firewall issue.

xs650 Thanks very much for your help. I reloaded, reset, and rebooted the phone and it seems to be working now. I was able to get a hold of somebody at LG/Ericsson they told me that my serial number was very old (2008). I'm going to do some more testing, but I think these phones were primarily designed for your system and that SIP was an after thought.

Thanks Again

Nice to hear that it is working but I don´t think that the 88xx series was made
for the iPECS systems cause there you normally use the 8000 series with a propietary protocol.
When you want to use the 88xx series with a iPECS you have to buy a license and
you have less feature then with the 8000 series.
But maybe you are right, I am not working on this system for such a long time.

The successor of the 88xx series is the 88xxE series. You can find some information
on

twohuck, I've been looking for newer spbx firmwares for the IP8830. I would appreciate it if you point me to a place to download the firmwares or email the ones you have to hmpho[AT]ionservices[DOT]net.

Thanks again!

Thanks guys for your help. I finally got the phone working great. With Pho73's help I was able to find my last problem. Seems that the phone is picking up some sort of TimeZone info from the DHCP on my Verizon Router. Causing the phone to set it's TimeZone to "Lisbon,Portugal" every time the phone is re-booted. I connected the phone to a Cisco Small Business Router and the problem was solved. If anyone else needs the "SIP Firmware" let me know, I can email it. If anyone needs the steps for installing the Firmware I have that to. This phone does not have a file for the "End Point Manager" but other than that it works great in Asterisk. The DSS/BLF keys work for other extensions as well as the features. Thanks again to xs650 and Pho73 for pointing me in the right direction.
