I know it's not a common configuration, but I have a customer that has mostly ETR cards. It is a CKE4 Legend Processor with C1 Power units. They have issues where phones are dying (no display or anything) and then 1/2 hour later the phone is working again. I checked the load and both cabinets are at or below the 96 unit load requirement. Here is the configuration: Cab 1- CKE4 Processor, 408MLX, 800 GS/LS, 800DID, 016ETR, 016ETR. Cab 2- 016ETR, MMessaging, 016ETR, 100DCD, 016ETR, 016ETR.

The system worked fine until 2 things happened: (1) they had all new wire pulled (even though the old was fine) and (2) they added the last 016ETR Module. I feel this is a wiring issue where all the pairs aren't terminated properly as I did take apart a few jacks and have to reterminate them. The wiring company is saying all wire is good and that it is the system causing the problems. Any help is appreciated.

To check the in-house wiring, plug the Partner phones directly into the jacks on the ETR module(s).

Are the phone(s) that blank out all on the same ETR card? Do any of the MLX phones experience similar problems? [ponder]

I assume they did a "board renumber" after adding the extra 016 ETR module - and changed the extention numbering to fit their dialplan.

It sure sounds like a wiring issue. Easiest way to check is with a LAN cable tester - that has a remote unit which you can plug in at one end - and the main unit at the other end of each cable being tested. Makes it easy to see misconfigured pinouts.

It turned out to be a wiring issue. Their terminations were not done properly, once reterminated, all have worked without issue.
