Hi

We are trying to integrate our product with Livelink Document Management system. This is a as per a customer request. So the scenario is we do not have a partner agreement or a subscription to a copy of OpenText Doc management system.

The customer has a instance of it in their organization. But we still do not know if we have access to it for development.Based on what I have searched on the Internet and from forum postings it seems to me that the LAPI jar is not a open source software but infact a proprietary library which is distributed to Opentext customers/clients only.Is this true?

Is there any way to access this library as a developer if you are not a paying customer of the product. Not that our company cannot affors it, its just that I want to know for sure before I request a payment for that.

So can someone please help me with this.Is there a knowledge are/ center or some other website where I can register and get this jar?

Thanks for any suggestions

Regards
Avinash

There are some introductory LAPI tutorials at although the best ones are on the OpenText site - - which requires a login, OpenText also provide training on this as well.

Another option may be to use the WebServices approach instead which is the way most of the new development is going now.

Hi Greg

Thanks for the answer.I did visit the link you sent to me and it has great tutorials. However my question was about a issue I face even before we start development.

Where is the lapi.jar for download. As i said I am not a customer of this product yet and I cannot find the jar on the public internet anywhere. Can you point me to a link where I can download the jar and start writing code.

or better yet for the Web services development where are the WSDL's?

Thanks
Avinash

Unfortunately all the information you need is not available in the public domain from what I can see, although it will be available to your client as they should have a login for the following URLs :

- how to set up the server for working with Livelink WebServices

- LAPI portal page

OpenText Developer Network, contains LAPI documentation and other information on WebServices and the like

WebServices Sub Site
