I have also started working with KDE and GNOME. I have run into a problem with KDE that I think is related to permmissions, but I cannot for the life of me figure out where the problem lies.
If I start Konsole from either a shortcut I have created, or the shortcut on panel, the Konsole window opens and then closes immediately. This happens whenever the program is launched by a user other than root. The command line used to invoke Konsole is konsole %i %m.
If I start the program as root, it will run without any problems.
Permissions on /usr/share/applnk/System/konsole.desktop are 555. The owner is root.root. And, the permissions on the directory structure are the same. The permissions on /usr/bin/konsole are 755 and the owner is root.root.
Any help that can be provided would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for your assistance.
