I have Red Hat 6.2 as a firewall. I am running SQUID proxy and also forwarding email requests inside to the LAN exchange server. Everything else is closed. Recently the server stopped alowing console logins. I am able to administer from webmin. But I'm wondering if there is a memory problem. The error I receive when trying to log in is "kernel: Unable to load interpreter /lib/ld-linux.so.2.

Anyone have any ideas or suggestions? Thanks in advance.

I've had this happen before on a RH box and it usually has to do with resources. The last time it happenned was when procmail was trying to deliver a 90M mail message to someone's account. It was chewing up all the server resources and after a period of time, it seemed to choke out other processes to the point that the console login didn't work and I saw that message. I would run "top" and watch to see what processes are using the most memory or cpu time. Most of the time, a process should be in the 2-3 % range. Procmail was hitting 70% at the time I caught it.

Good luck,
GJ
