Job Title

I am currently listed as a Computer Application Specialist within our organization. I am going to begin training to become a DBA on top of my current position. Our company pays based on recognized Job titles. Is there one that would incorporate both positions or if not does anyone have any suggestions on a title.

Generally those two positions are going to be separate. Try to go with the DBA and let the App Spec. die on the vine. You will be better off going forward as a DBA, hopefully it's a quality database to learn on. I have to beleive that the DBA will pay more that the other one, currently and going forward.

KLewis, Suggest to your people that despite your wearing two hats, thus deserving both salaries, that you are willing to work both jobs for only 75% of each salary.

I'd be careful with that last one...they may decide to outsource both for half of one...

Also, if the difference in pay is enough, 75% of each could be less than 100% of the greater.
