My company has recently switched to the IP office platform and I wanted to know:
a.) What is the maximum # of phones anyone has stuck on the 412 with success?
b.) Is there any known problems with running the data line for the computere through the phone? Ex. 5610 and 5620 phones.

thx

Hi

I run a Call Centre and have:

46 digital extensions (at busy points all being used)
8 analog extensions

No problems with usage but I do find that when I do a merge on Manager it usually freezes the system meaning I have to reboot - losing all the connecte calls.

This seems to be an issue with the 412 passing calls to VM Pro though.

Other than that, no problem.

Hope this helps

The issue it seems with capacity is the size of the config file. I have seen file too large for the control unit but still under the stated extension capacity. The IP Ofc. documentation has a "Config Size Calculator Tool" in the Other Information section.

i was just curious because i recently implemented a site that has 120 ip phones and they are hooking the computers to the phones. with this we have been experiencing static issues with using the 8k codec. we switched to the full 64k but are still having minor problems. i just wanted to know if we might be pushing the systems limitations.

thx

We ahve a couple sites 412s with up to 100 IP phones however they connect via a lan so we us G711 (64K) no major issues.

If you have speech quality issues I would look at how you are implementing QOS on your network. L2 or L3.

If you have a paticular problem user put his phone and PC on separat ports and see if this helps

i appreciate the respones and we are running qos on our switches. i did some checking and the packets are getting tagged so i feel confident that it is working correctly. i would use the pc and phone on different ports but unfortunately this particular site is moving and they didn't want to spend the money on the extra cat 5 cabling. i appreciate the response though.

I have at least 4 customers with 412 and 406V2 with well over 120 - 260 users and know problems and a few IP Phone connecting small offices and it works fine once your site to site VPN is correct and IPO routing table.

No issues with VMPro on 412 or 406 or 403's
