Hi All.

I am probably doing something silly..

For some reason, when I want the phones to change time automatically, it isn't working

Under system I have selected the time source as VMPro / Manager.
The time service is set to my computer IP Address but when I set the time on my computer to something new, the time change does not show up on my phones.

I reboot the system, there is no change.

If I set the time source to none, set the appropriate time zone, the time changes within a minute or so.

What am I doing wrong?

Regards

When you change the time zone you are forcing a recheck of the time. When you have it set to VMPro/Manager it will check every hour regardless of the changes made on the server being used for time changes.

I am assuming you have checked the obvious as well - Time server turned on in manager, manager open and firewall not getting in the way (again I have assumed your pc has manager and not vm pro on it).

Indeed, I imagine you aren't leaving Manager open or it's being blocked by AV/firewall :)

Assuming the IPO is connected to the internet, just configure it to use SNTP. You might have to add a DNS server if there isn't one already. If you're trying to use VM Pro/manager then Manager needs to be open for time to sync. You can force a re-check with a reboot or by setting the time source to none and then back to VM Pro/Manager.

Or change the Time server IP Address to something silly, merge and change it back to your PCs IP Address.
It should update the time, keep a SSA session open, select resources and then Time, if you do the merge while SSA is open you can see the IPO polls the time server, if it fails while you are sure you have entered the correct data then your firewall is blocking the time update.

Hi Guys.

In no particular order:

1) Firewall turned off
2) Manager is only open enough to make my change, save, and then I close
3) Time server is set to use my Manager on my computer with a static ip.

Since I need to keep the customer happy, I am giving them the ability to change time at their convience.

Thanks for the information. (Never had this problem with my old XP machine).

Regards

So it was your point 2 that stopped it working, this is true of any OS and any version of IPO in his scenario, so it would happen on XP also.

I can't believe this read was even opened if your are installing and maintaining systems to be honest :)

I'm pretty sure on you XP computer you had (wanted or not...) the VMPro service to running...

SNTP is the way to go...
