We had an IP500 4.2(4) with a DS30 and DS16 crash last Friday. It is on our LAN and in another state so I could not access it remotely. We had a tech go out and unplug the two expansion modules to see if the control unit would stay up, it would stay up for a minute then flake out again leading us to believe it was a problem with the control unit, bad PSU? I had a spare control unit and feature key smart card (that we were going to use at another location on our LAN) so I upgraded it and sent the backup config into it. It said the license was invalid but I figured once it was onsite and the tech swapped the analog trunk cards, embedded vm cf card, and feature key over to the replacement we should be good. It did have 2 alarms concerning features we dont use and I dont remeber what they were. Everything worked fine for about 12 hrs but now it is behaving the same. Blinking red lights on the DS modules and cant access the control unit via LAN. Any ideas on what the issue might be would be appreciated.

Is is possible that whatever is creating (or trying to create) extension 810 is also increasing the size of the config file to its bursting point? Check the size of the config and make sure your capacities haven't been exceeded.

Looks like in Manager under System/LAN1/Gatekeeper the boxes for H323 Gatekeeper Enable and H323 Auto-create Extn needed to be unchecked. I did this and it cleared both alarms and the system has not gone down since. It's very odd because these are checked by default and I have a dozen other identical systems that are running fine with no alarms or failures. We have nothing plugged in that should be trying to register, again all 4412D and 4424D phones that are on DS30 and 16 expansion modules.

Then someone tries to hack your system... there is definetly a ip phone (softphone ?) trying to register

I had a similar problem to yours and discovered that our IP Office had created hundreds of extensions at the request of a Toshiba IP system at a remote site, but on the same network. Live and learn.
