Could someone please tell me how to find the internal printer/network card name on IBM 6400 printer - I'm trying to set it up as a remote printer through HP-UX 11

thanks

The key is to get the hardware (MAC) address for the printer. See the printer network card for this, or read it off a label. Then you can use either arp or bootp to assign the address:

arp -s 802.5 west6400 00:02:31:c8:00:61 temp
ping west6400

with boot, add an entry to the bootptab file all on one line that does something like

west6400:ht=tr:vm=rfc1048::ha=000231C80061:ip=192.36.253.96:\
:sm=255.255.255.0:gw=192.36.353.254

You will need to make sure that the bootpd daemon is running on your HPUX system.
