Hi Guys,

I'm new here. I hang out in the Meridian forum. However, I have a Norstar system at one of my smaller locations. Normally when it requires service, we call in a vendor.
We called them in to install a new phone. They gave it an extension of 3783. If anyone calls it internally at the location it works. However, if we try to call it from any of our other locations using 4 digit dialing it does not work. I have verified my routes from my other sytems and they are set correctly. For instance calling 3780 works fine and all internal numbers staring 378 are sent on that route.

Any help or ideas would be extremely appreciated.

Thank You,

Doug

Thanks Guys,

Is there a faq that would have a breif instructions how to do this? I have all the passwords and know how to get around. Just wondering if anyone had this info.

The most difficult part of programming a target line is finding one that isn't already used by another extension... :)

Go into system programming.

Go into Lines.

Depending on the software version, the first "line" that is available for use as a target line is either 145 or 157.

Look for a target line that has a REC'D number of "none".

Change this to be the extension, making note of the target line number.

(I've changed the name of the line to be the extension number. This helps me to identify what target lines are in use).

Also, you may want to make note of how an existing target line is setup (ie. prime), to make things consistent.

Next, go into Terminal & Sets and enter the extension number that you want to assign the line to.

Go to Line Access -> Line Assignment. Enter the target line number & change to "Ring Only". Then, set to "Appearances: 2".

Hope this helps.

Look at 3782 and 3784, if it was programmed right there target line numbers should fall on each side of 3783. So if
3782 was target line 145
and
3784 was target line 147
Then
3783 should be programmed as 146.
