Hello!

I have some questions about installing solaris 2.6.

First: There's an installation option where you can select to install Upgrade or Initial. If I choose Initial Installation, would all the data be deleted? Or would be all the partitions formatted? (that's what I want!)

Second: Is it possible to make the installation with an VT instead of a monitor? I have a Sun Ultra1 connected to a VT, but in the future I will connect it to a monitor.

Thanks a lot!

PS: I hope in the future I could help some other people with my knowledge, novice now!

The initial option will create new file systems on the disk partitions. So everything that is currently on those partitions will be deleted.

Formatting is the action of setting up the partitions in the first place. This can be done automatically by the installer
or manually through the installer.

By VT, I assume you mean a dumb terminal (Wyse terminal). You can use this to set up the ultra1, just make sure you select the right type of terminal, at the beginning of the install program.
