We are attempting to install a ds1 converter along with the switch node interface and are seeing some strange things:

We have installed the converted on slot 21. When we do a list config board o1E21 it shows up as TN1654 vintage 9. However when I do a list config port 1 it doesn't show up at all. Whats that all about?

Also, I was under the impression that the amber light on the top of the ds1 converter and the switch node interface would stop blinking and go solid even if we haven't installed the remote epn yet. They are still blinking slowly. Will they continue to do so until after I install the remote epn?

Thanks,
Dave

The SNI carrier is not technically in PN1 so your list config is correct. The amber light will continue to blink showing which span is currently carrying the signalling. Keep in mind, only the A & B spans will carry signaling so if you have diverse service providers, make sure they are different on A&B (i.e. don't put 1 provider on AB and another on CD, if the AB provider goes down, you will be dead in the water).

THanks for the info. I felt much better about leaving for the remote location to install the rest of it. Columbus to Philly... 8 hour drive!

Everything turned out just fine.

Thanks again,
Dave V

You could have called me to do the Philly side! It's not far at all from Baltimore. :)

I am using T1 tie trunks...I understand the physical parts, but am unsure about the administration parts. Please help.
