Hello, in the chfs manual there is a statement:

"During a shrink of the file system, writes to the file system are blocked. "

And what about fs increasing? Is there any lv i/o degradation during fs increasing? I met a situation, that on heavy used fs, increasing it by 15GB caused some processes coredumps. Increasement completed ok but took ca. 30 minutes!!

kind regards,
R..

The reason that I/O is blocked during shrink is that the fs code will have probably to move data from the end of the fs where space will be removed. No such copying is necessary during a fs increase.
