Hi All...

I have a database that I'm idiot-proofing (if that's possible--it seems a better idiot is born daily)..anyway--got a form, press a command button and an imput form pops up asking for the location path of a file. The path is fed into some code that imports the file using an import specification--works perfect.

Problem is, when you look at the table that was imported, the very first character(s), in the very first field of the very first record has this right before the first word in the field "???"...what the heck is that? In other words it looks like this "???what the heck is this" instead of "what the heck is this".

The file being imported is tab delimited. I've triple-checked the file being imported and there are no extraneous characters on it.

Any help would be appreciated...

Here is something that might help:

But my initial thought is that for some reason, Access is not accurately recognizing the first 3 characters in that record.

have you tried to import directly without using a specification?

could be something on the import specifications messing up...

Thanks guys...

I figured it out...it was in the type of specifications I was using to import...
