Importing Excel

WhenI import cells from Excel into InDesign, the background, unlike Pagemaker, shows up the individual cell boundaries - even when I use a white background fill. How do eliminate this problem?
 
Place the text cursor in the table and select Table options from the Table menu. Select whatever you want from the table setup window. That makes sure you have no border, unless you want it.

Place the text cursor in the top left or right cell and drag across all the rows and columns. Go to Table/Cell Options/Strokes & Fills and set whatever you like.
