Hello,

I get assigned an IP address from my ISP for my broadband connection...for example 81.82.83.84

If I type in the name of my computer in the browser i.e
I can see all my IIS default files, If I type in the IP ADDRESS it should point to the same place, which it look likes it does, but it ask me for a username and password????

Why?

I tried my system account, no luck, I went to properties if IIS default web site, and looked at the settings for user rights e.t.c couldnt see anything obvious.

Help anyone?

PS I have put a tick in "Anonymous access" but still no luck...Thanks

If I set to anonymous access it says access denied, you are not authorised to view this page?

How annoying

Thanks

I have now given full control to everyone on the root folder,

Its still asking for a username and Password????@??

Check the NTFS permissions on the directory and the files within. Ensure your IUSR_ account has at least read perms on the contents of this directory.

NTFS Permissions are fine, IUSR_ account is also fine,

It works fine with computername just not the IP?

Thanks

XP Professional SP2, with IIS Version 5.1....

I dont use a router at home no, just a 10/100 Modem...

Thanks

type 127.0.0.1 in your browser and verify that you can access the site. Also check to see if your ISP blocks subcribers from creating personal web sites.

No it didnt,

But I think I know what the problem is...

I deleted all the default IIS pages and put up my own default.htm file,

All works fine with IP address and Name of machine,

So I guess SP2 disabled some sort of scripting issue on my machine, I am still investigating!!!
