Hi,
I am working on a sales catalogue for an auction company.
they add blank lots at the end of the catalogue.
this works fine...but the linked table 'vendors' which supplies the vendors name contains blank values and so the report does not show these records.

how can I make the query display the records which do not have values?

If I understand correctly, you can double-click the join line and select the option to include all the records from the catalogue table. Another alternative would be to create an "unknown" vendor record.

chose option3 worked fine...
any probs using this method?

after posting on sunday got db to create blank vendor after new auction is started.
tables are cleared at this point during new auction routine
but cant reset autonumber of vendorID (cant use compact as this complicates flow of the procedure)otherwise would set the blank records to always point to blank vendor, but asked users to enter 'blank' as vendor.

will implement your method as soon as...cheers mark

I am not sure I follow your design. I would not use an autonumber for anything other than a unique, primary key. I never display the number in any form or report.

sure the vendorID is unique to the vendor,
and the key is not shown.
every time a new auction is started the tables are cleared.
but the autonumber does not reset.
blank vendor is created in vendor table.
in the catalogue blank lots are included at the end of each category(for late entries).
in the Auctioneers copy the vendors are shown.
if there isnt a vendor the Auctioneers copy will not show blanks.
