OK guys, my IE`sow playing up, everytime i start my machine and try to connect IE won`t dial the default connection. It seems that either on shutdown or boot up, its changing its settings to `Never dial a connection`, this now means that after each restart etc, i have to goto internet options and tell it to dial the default connection always.
Its getting most frustrating now, any idears anyone?

Do you use more than 1 provider?
Do you use a "free" provider?

No, i only use the 1 connection, it is a free connection NTLworld, but then i`ve been using NTL connection for the last 4 years, and changed nothing settings wise for weeks now.

What version?
Service Packs installed?

I'd recommend using the repair tool if you have version 5.0 or higher:

Try the Internet Explorer repair feature first. Go to Start>Settings>ControlPanel>Add/Remove Programs, scroll down until you see Microsoft Internet Explorer 5 & Internet Tools, click the Add/Remove button and select repair.

Or go to Start>Run, type msinfo32, click the Tools menu and select Internet Explorer Repair Tool.

Or upgrade to IE6 at Windows Update.

OK, i`m running IE6 with no service packs (as far as i`m aware there is none as of yet), i`ve also run the repair function, and that hasn`t helped any, makes me wonder whether its a setting somewhere that i don`t know about it, with it consistantly doing it.

Try this...

98 or ME:
Go to Start>Run, type msconfig, click the startup tab and disable all startup items.

Win95:
Startup Control Panel
Startup Control Panel is a nifty control panel applet that allows you to easily configure which programs run when your computer starts. It's simple to use and, like all my programs, is very small and won't burden your system. A valuable tool for system administrators!

OK, i tried removing items from msconfig one at a time, to see if anything made a difference, i finally removed my scanner from start up and its now holding the default connection, stramge though lol as the scanner and software have been installed since day one and its never done it before. I`m still not convinced to be truthful that it was the removing of the scanner detector that cured it, thinkits just one of those zany WinMe bugs, but as i say its working now and i`m not one to complain,
Thanx for the help Reghakr much appreciated kind sir :)
