This machine is running Vista Business, data is on Windows 2003 server. Suddenly started getting the above error when opening Peachtree 2008. Can run PT and open the company fine on the server. Deleted status.dat and re-installed Peachtree with no success. TIA !

This doesn't seem to be a big db issue, as the application runs fine on the server.

It could the the location of the Datapath. Look in your C:\windows directory. There are ini files for each version of Peachtree. For a listing:
Verify the program path and data path in the INI file. The program path should be pointing to the users c: drive where the Peachtree Programs are install. The Data path should be pointing to a directory one above the current companies data directory. Look for the status.dat file. That is the subdirectory where the datapath should be pointing. Some Peachtree .Dat files are shared by different companies.

You could always rename the status.dat file and reload peachtree. When you reinstall it will prompt you for the datapath and create a new status.dat file.

This files does not need to be repaired. I has no accounting data in it.

Regards
Michael
