I actually have two questions. I've browsed these forums for a long time, but can't figure this out so any help would be fantastic! I've added pictures to the bottom of my post that should allow for better troubleshooting.

The first is I am trying to change a users name on a Mitel 4015 via the Mitel Communications Director (Web Interface). I am trying to change the users name and enable voicemail. It says this when trying to save.

Telephone directory: The Name - Telephone Number combination must be unique.

I have been able to change the name once in a great while, but it won't take the full name it would take the first, but not last and vice versa.

The second issue I am having is changing the name on the operator phones. In the configuration windows it says the correct name under both the Group Administration and the System Administration tools. On the phones when called or they call it will still say the old name.

Thanks again for any help you can provide.

The name/number combination already exists, go to the telephone directory form and check through.

You can apply more than 1 name to any device on the Mitel. This is so that you can find them in the telephone directory and call them if the device is shared. For the display name however, only 1 can display. The display name will either be the first one programmed or he one designated as the prime name. I strongly suspect you will find that the issue in both your cases is that the name you want to display is already programmed but was not programmed first and is not designated as prime. Either delete the entry that you do not want to display of designate the other as prime.

What's most important is that you realise ... There is no spoon.

@boycey9 where do you find the telephone directory?

@kwbMitel Can you designate one as prime? I already deleted the extension and that didn't fix the issue for me.

Thanks for the replies :)

Go to the telephone directory form and search for the extension number.

Search more than once to find every instance.

Find the one you want and change, there is a select box for prime.

Holy sh1t! I had to list all all reports a-z to find it, but that worked! It had probably 15 names for that same extension. I wonder how it got messed up. I will need to see if I can fix the operator phones this way, but I'm guessing it will! Thank you soooo much!
