I have recently started doing my MCSA, and felt like in stead of just using VMware to try XP Pro and Server 2003 I would use some old equipment and get some new as well to have a cabinet with some rack mounted servers in it. So I now have 2 x XP Pro machines and 1 x Server 2003 R2, and I also got a APC UPS.

And finally since I thought that after I have completed my MCSA I would do the CCNA, I thought I would ease myself in with a 2900XL switch. I got the switch from eBay for £16 which was a good price, and a Cisco rollover cable for £4.

I can not find Hyper Terminal on Server 2003 anywhere??? so I have had to use one of my XP machines to connect to the switch. Does anybody know if I need to download a pack or something?

Thanks

Guy

Go to Control Panel and open up 'Add or Remove Programs'. Select 'Add/Remove Windows Components' from the left side of the window. Select 'Accessories and Utilities' and click the 'Details...' button. Select 'Communications' and click the 'Details...' button again. Check the box next to 'Hyperterminal' and click 'OK' on both windows to return to the 'Windows Components Wizard'. Click 'Next' and finish the wizard out to add Hyperterminal.

Thanks IllogicallyLogical, that worked a treat!

I don't know why it isn't installed as standard like on XP, especially when they know that a server is more than likely going to be connected to a switch or router : /

Thanks for your help
