I'm trying to help someone who just purchased an HP Pavillion 764N computer. He wants to install a good video card that has Video-in capability so that he can create DVD's from VHS tapes (he already has a DVD burner).

I recommended a really nice Nvidia AGP card. However, when I tried to install it, it didn't work at all. I called HP and they told me that his system cannot handle videoshadowing, and that there is no way to disable it in the BIOS.

So now I am looking for a good video card that has Video In and Out that will be compatible with an HP Pavillion 764N. We have contacted HP several times and they have been useless. I don't want to keep trying cards because we have to pay a restocking fee each time we send them back.

Does anyone know what kind of card would be compatible with this system?

We had a similar problem with a HP and after several differant cards were tried (ATI's and Nvidia) we ended up changing the motherboard, the new board had no problems with the GF4. Martin

Replying helps further our knowledge, without comment leaves us wondering.
