How to set the default button in a page

hello friends,
I have a page where the user log's in and enters his name and password along with go(gif).when the user clicks on gif the page will submit .But on entering the username and password if i press enter in the password field itself how should i fire the event submit which was written on go gif. even on press of spacebar this needs to be fired.This i saw in so many sites but i don't know how they didit.

If the image is the only submit on the page, it should work. Unless I misunderstood you? Dean Owen
