There's one thing about Internet Explorer that drives me absolutely nuts that I'm wondering if anybody can help with.

Let's say I'm surfing the web in Window A. I come across a link to another page I want to look at, so I right-click and select Open In New Window.

What I really want is to continue surfing in Window A and to only switch to newly loaded Window B at a time of my choosing.

What bugs the crap out of me is that IE forces me over to Window B as soon as it reaches a certain stage in the load point.

Why is this annoying? Because I'm usually typing something in Window A, only to have my data entry completely hijacked by the sudden appearance of and switchover to Window B.

There was even one time when this feature cost me money. I hit the return key on Window A to complete an action, just as IE decided to flip me into the newly loaded Window B, where the return key action triggered the pressing of a button I did not want to press. But that's another story :)

Is there an option somewhere in IE that allows me to control what window has priority? I just want to stay on the window I'm looking at, have new windows load in the background, and move to that new window at a time of my choosing.

There's really no way with new windows. However, if you use new tabs, you can find a tab option that controls the behavior that you're looking for.
