How to call Cobol from Perl ?

I know some MF Cobol and some Perl.
Can somone please write me a Perl script to invoke a Cobol
program. Let's say the program reads an input file named
INFILE , write OUTFILE and prints RPTFILE (these are the
internal names of the files , as in SELECT INFILE ...).
Any links would be great.

Gotta know more about your environment including OS and the vendor/release level of your COBOL compiler. Each vendor has differing requirement for invoking programs compiled with their product.

I have not been posted to the client's site yet.
I know they are running Redhat Linux AS3 and Microfocus Cobol (version unknown).
