Hello,

can someone provide me with directions on how to rebuild a dn and how to add a new dn to the switch?

thx

Newbietech06, I am assuming that your are working in a M1 because of where you posted your question. Let me know if I am wrong.

Adding or creating a new DN is a easy thing to do if you know what you want built on your DN but it is a hard thing to explain.

You need to know that TN you want to build it to, What features to build on it and so on.

The best way for you to do it is to find what TN you want. Go to LD 20 PRT a DN that is close in paramaters as to what you want, use that TN to CPY 1 (copy 1)

It will ask Type, input the type of set you are using for the DN. It must be the same as the DN you want to copy.

It will ask what TN to copy, input TN that you noted.

It will then ask for a new TN where to copy it to. Input the Tn where you wnat it to go.

Then it will reply with DN. Input your new DN number and you should be good to go.

This is a capture I ran through as an example.

REQ: cpy 1
TYPE: 5
TYPE 500
CFTN 12 0 1 0
DES SWITCH

*** MAKE PRINTER READY ***
TN 12 0 1 1
DN ****

Hope it helps.

one reason you may have trouble adding new dn's is that it is not written that way in the manuals.. either add an analog station in ld 10 or a digital station in ld 11.. you then add new numbers to it or change a working station to include the new station. lubb2's post should get you started. if you get stuck, let us know

thank you both. but just to make sure i explained it correctly: someone one was trying to mov or copy a set and someone took a dn out of the switch completly and i was told that i need to re add if in order to the the user thier phone services back?

All DN's are in the PBX all the time, you just add them on the TN of the Phone to make them work.

a DN itself does not get corrupted, if you are thinking that then what is the issue?

If you go to ld 32 and PRT type=LUDN it will give you all the DNS that are available to you.

newbietech06 Do you mean TN?

A DN is the Ext number
A TN is where a phone or trunk is built

It sounds like you feel the DN is no longer in your meridian1. To verify go to LD 20 Req:prt Type:dnb
Cust:0 (or whatever you use there)DN:**** (**** is the DN you think is gone)then enter everything else. If you get info. back you know it is still active. If you get a SCH**** code then try. From LD 20 Req:prt Type:ludn Cust:0 (or again what you use there) DN:**** (where **** is the DN you are looking for, or just enter to see all unused DN's) If DN is unused you will see it listed. If DN is not Active or Unused (which is what I think you think is the situation), then I can't help you sorry but at least you will know for sure by doing this.

Thanks! But it seems to be corrupted, it's no longer active in the system and whe someone calls that ext i get bug562 errors on the switch

If you are grabbing error codes off the switch you know more then me, what happens to the call? Is it passed to your reception number? or just ring for ever? Is this the same as other unassigned DN's? Are you able to assign that DN to a phone? If so do that set the Marp for it to that phone so the configuration for that DN will be controlled from that TN. The original DN configuration is gone but you can just rebuild it (can't you?)

if you dial the ext, it flahses really quick with the cpd info then goes to a fast busy and if you call it externally, if a disconnected number.

What happens was someoe did a mov incorrecty and removed two phoe then replaced it with a ew dn and cause the old to get corrupted. The system needed to be debugged and patched and then have the dn re added

Go to LD 20
REQ PRT
TYPE LUDN
DN xxxx you can enter the EXT your looking for or just hit
Enter and it will print every DN that is not being
used by the system.

If it doesn't show up in the above, then do

LD 20
REQ PRT
TYPE DNB
DN XXXX Enter the Ext your looking for.

newbie
I take it from your last message that the system was deggued and patched and the DN re added, is that right? Is the Dn back now and working?

A note on using the MOV command. LD 84/85 does not play well with MOV(ed) TNs. If you must make changes after mov(ing) a set, do a CHG on the TN and return through without making any changes to the set. I had a customer corrupt their system because a new hire did ODAS changes in LD 85 after the sets were moved. I restored the system from a floppy that was saved prior to any LD 85 changes. They were lucky to lose only a few days of MAC work.
I have seen statements from Nortel to avoid MOV but haven't heard anything about issues being resolved.
