How Many Layers?

Hi,

Does anyone know how many layers are possible to put on a page? I am attempting to build a page that has many small graphics (possibly hundreds), and I wish to be able to manipulate them separately with javascript.

Any other ideas how to accomplish are welcome!

If I understand you correctly you want to use layers to reference images so they can manipulated using javascript.

This can also be acheived using <div> instead.

What I am trying to find out is if there is some limit to how many objects can appear ona web page

sorry i forgot to answer the question properly. DOH.

as far as i know theyre are no limits on the number of objects which can appear on a page though if every element is to be preloaded pages with 100's of objects/images could create large download times.

My advice would be to have a go and see - just make sure you use a clear method for naming your divs/layers or it may get a bit confusing!
