How does Notes process email addressed to groups

I know this question has been around for a while but I can't find any documentation.

If a user is a member of 4 (as an exmaple) groups and each of those (4) groups is the addressee of an email - will the user get multiple (4 copies) emails (one for each group)?

Where can I find this type of documentation?(can't find it on the Notes KB)

The solution should be to expand the groups and parse the result with @unique.
Unfortunately, that has to be impemented since Notes does not do that on its own.
Not that I'm aware of anyway.
