I tried to configure the call listening but for some reason it isn’t working. When I call a number to listen it says “call rejected”. This is what I dialed. *56*7305#

Here’s my setup.

Call listener is ext 7304
Call to be listened to is ext 7305

1) 7305 has “cannot be intruded unchecked”.
2) 7304 has “can intrude” checked.
3) For 7304 I created a short code *56*N# from with the users short codes tab and selected “call listen” from the drop down list.
4) I created a hunt group called “call listen” and placed both extensions 7304 and 7305 in it.
5) *I noticed an error (yellow flag) when I created the hunt group where it asks for an extension, does it need an extension number, if so what #?
6) For 7305 I went to User | Telephony | monitor group and added “call listen” from the drop down.
7) For 7304 I went to User | Telephony | monitor group and added “call listen” from the drop down.
8) Changes have been saved (merged)

Am I missing anything?

Only the extension (7305) must be in the group. Each group *MUST* have a extension number, any unique number will do ( example = 8999 ).
Only extension 7304 may have the group name in the monitor option. create a shortcode for 7304 like this:

SC = 8999
TN = 8999
Action = CallListen
LineID = 0

Thanks, I removed 7304 from the group and made sure only 7304 has the monitor option.

I don't understand the shortcode info? The help file says add it as say *56*N# where N is the extension number I dial. If I add the SC as just 8999 and have a preset TN of 8999, how would I dial the extension # I want to listen to? The SC doesn't provide an option in this case of selecting any other number besides 8999. I should mention I want to pick and choose which extension to listen to that is in the monitor group.

Wrong code, sorry.

If you want to select a specific user you best program a CallListen button, call to the extension you want to monitor, if you get busy tone press the button.
otherwise dial the shortcode *56*extn nr#

Okay, my short code is now *56*N# I place a call to 7305 through another phone, then I go to 7304 dial the extension *56*7305# and I get "call rejected" on my display and bzzzz on the phone? Same behavior as I had before. Anything else that it might be?

What software version are you on, i think its broken on some versions.

Release 3.2 doesn't allow you to camp on the extension waiting for the agent to get on a call.

It will only work if that person is ON a call when you dial the short code.

It works in 4.0...tested with Avaya. I have a ticket open on it myself in 3.2 and hope they can put a fix into a patch soon....worked on a customer in 2.l...upgraded to 3.2 and it broke.

Thanks,

Tim

Are you using IP Phones or Soft Phones?? In that case you must uncheck the box direct media path. You can find this at extensions / IP
