What does a guy need to do, to change the uname of a server?

I changed a machine name with smit hostname, set hostname over the weekend, however, the uname is still the old name the server had. Any ideas?

Sorry for the multi-part message... So I would try
"uname -S <hostname>"

It isn't awful if they are different though. Everything should still work.

Thank you.

I called support. They told me I have two options when changing the hostname/uname of a server.

Option 1 -
1. smit hostname, set hostname
2. reboot

Option 2 -
1. smit hostname, set hostname
2. uname -S newhostname ( or rerun /etc/rc.net )
3. hostname newhostname
4. change /etc/hosts

I was a little afraid of implementing the change during the day because the server I was working on is my NFS server....but I pulled the trigger and used Option2. No problems have occured.

Thanks again,

Good for you... Sorry bout all the emails you prolly got from my indecisiveness... ;-)
