Hello,

On the Legend system, is it possible to set up a call que for incoming calls where the callers are put on hold and fed the music on hold announcement? The install will have 4 or 5 standard MLX-10D stations and no secretary. There will be no Voice Power, Intuity or Merlin Mail.

It is for a small business that would like callers not to hear constant rings. until call answer.

Calling Groups can indeed be setup so that rather than the outside caller hearing the ringback tones they can hear Music on Hold. But a couple of things should be setup.

Without a secretary or receptionist the external calls would be best routed into the Calling Group number directly through dial plan routing. For example, a DID number can be routed to the Calling Group's number (e.g. - calling 555-3533 automatically routes the call to 777). This way the caller gets directly in. Of course the DID number shouldn't be an active entity (since all calls are routed to 777).

The Calling Group should also have a Delay Announcement Device defined. A music coupler can go to an endless loop cassette tape, CD on auto-repeat, whatever. Just something defined to play announcements for the caller while they're in queue. Between delay announcements the caller will then hear MoH rather than ringback tones. Without a Delay Announcement Device there will be no MoH.

For external callers getting transferred to a Calling Group they will hear MoH if there is a Delay Ann Device or not. But then again that means that someone needs to perform the transfer. For the automated queueing you are looking for I am assuming that this isn't applicable.

For specifics if you have access to Merlin documentation refer to sections dealing with Delay Announcement Devices, Music on Hold, Calling Groups, and Transfer Audible.

Hope this gets you started!
