I'm trying to build a store for my site, but having alot of trouble doing so... To be honest I haven't got the firt clue on how to get it working. Has anyone done so before, or could at least tell me how to make it work?

Amanda

It could be done but I would strongly recommend you don't use Publisher. Use a program that's made to create websites.

If you are having that much trouble and this is something you are serious about, hire someone to create the site for you.

Hi I am currently in the process of designing a webstore. Im also very new to publisher and its interesting the way i started to use it. About 5 months i got someone to design a online store for me. They did this using zen cart. The website went down a little while back and all the database files went with it so it needed work from scratch. I decided to take on the task to do it myself as i got a little familier with zen cart. I got myself a new host as the site was previously being histed on my friends server. When i tried to upload zencart i was having alot of difficulty. I played around with it for about a day and just couldnt get it to load the welcome screen. By this time i really needed to get on with the store as i was loosing customers. I already had microsoft publisher installed so thought i would give it a go. The only problem was that it doesnt have a shopping cart. So for the meanwhile as i really need to get back on the web i am using buy it now buttons. The majority of my customers buy single items at a time and i have placed a note advising them to call us if they require further items. The mainthing is that im back online and i designed the site myself.

My main concern is that i need to make the website search engine friendly and dont know if it is. I have been using alot of breaks and tabs which i have noticed in the source so i was thinking of using tables to allign the writting but didnt know if this would be search engine friendly.

One of the big problems i am facing is that i can create a sitemap. Does anyone know how to do this.

Other then that i have found publisher to be extremly easy to deal with. Unlike zencart and its templates i was able to extend and use the full body of the page which allowed me more space and more control.
