Hardest to learn?

For working on web pages and HTML what is the hardest Server side language to learn?

They don't all come with a "hardest/easiest to learn" rating and what may be hard for one person to learn may be easy for someone else. If you are thinking of starting one, choose something that is appropiate for what you need.

Depends on what you already know. They are all pretty straightforward, and mainly developments of existing non-web apps.

Surely it would be more beneficial to ask which was the 'easiest' to learn?

There is no difficulty rating and it depends on what you've done in the past.

Personally I find/found PHP much easier to get to grips with than ASP(classic). I've never stepped into .Net or Coldfusion because I've never had to.

Again personally I found PHP simpler than ASP because the PHP book I had (Beginning PHP 4 - Wrox Press) was infinitely better than it's ASP equivalent (Also Wrox Press and crap).

Look at what resources are available to you. PHP is free, there are lots of online resources and some great books out there. Are there any courses in your area? What sort of computer/operating system do you know best? Do you have access to a web server of some kind? If so, what is it running?
