I have a computer that says a problem with the hard drive has been detected. It's just a black screen that appears when I turn on the computer, and it will not do anything else. I cannot boot with a cd nor a floppy. I am out of ideas and need to know if there is someone that can tell me what I can do. Thanks,KB

is harddisk set/reportet in bios? doesnt it say error (40) or something and press ?key to continue?
in bios set halt on no errors and try to boot. if it´s not booting go and get a new harddisk, happy install. i bet you dont have a backup. ;-)

If you're attempting to boot from either a floppy disk or a CD, you'll have to enter your setup program and switch the boot order to either floppy or CD (depending on whichever you'd like to boot from).

We need some more info on this... Have you changed anything to your hardware (specifically something involving your harddrive or cables connected to it) lately? Or anything in your BIOS?

And what kind of error do you precisely get and when? Do you get a screen testing your RAM (numbers counting quickly) and a message like "Press DEL to enter BIOS" and then "Harddisk not found (40)" or something like that?

Peace,

Yellow

If you can get into BIOS, dis-able "Stop on all errors".
