Handset resetting randomly

We have three Mitel handsets that keep randomly rebooting themselves, two of these devices have been replaced by Mitel but the problem still persists.
Anyone seen this before or know of any tools I can use to monitor the connections to the three devices in question?
Any assistance appreciated,

What type of handset? TDM? IP? What type of controller? What software load? What type of phone? Christ throw us a bone and at least attempt to give some information? Otherwise I am going to say aliens did it.

I'd tell you a UDP joke but I'm afraid you won't get it. TCP jokes are the best because you always get them.
 
Handsets are 5340 IP phones on a 3300 cxi II controller. The controller is running software load 11.0.2.19.
I believe this may be a switch/poe issue as the phone do a full power cycle so I'm asking the guy onsite to change the ports that the phone use, however I'm just looking for some pointers in teh interim until he comes back to me with his testing feedback.

i've had that happen to me a few times on different locations. you've already done one part: replace the phone. you are about the to do the second part: poe switch. the last one is a bit tricky, and this happened to me just recetly: faulty wiring.

just my two cents.
 
I've had a similar experience to this recently.
I would start with what wMitel stated above, but my IP sets had conflicting IP addresses.
Also when replacing the phone replace the cat5e cable, I had someone roll over the cable with their chair and pinch the cable.
 
Personally, after 22 years in the business I have never seen a handset reset. Although I have seen many PHONES reset.
 
have you checked the maintenance logs? If the port has a full power down (embedded port)it will be recorded in the maint logs
 
If it resets frequent enough , wireshark is a good option to get details.

I think you are on the right path by having them move the phones to new layer 2 ports. I would also check that the phones have a gateway IP that is valid for the subnet that they are on. Potentially if the "keep alive" get redirected and does reach the 3300, then the phone might restart.
