GUI Scripting Options 2

Hello,

I need to write a simple interface into some logs and tools, i.e. basically a form with some buttons.

Earlier versions of WSH only had a few GUI options (MsgBox etc.). Using full blown VB is not an option (boo) for me.

Using WSH or native scripting interfaces with Windows 2003, how can I create a simple interface with some common Windows API controls (button, list box etc.)?

Why not get the VB.NET Express? It's a free download from Microsoft.com.

HTAs will allow you to use a lot of what you are talking about, however they require local execution.

You can use VBScript and dynamically create HTM files though.

Also take a look at Gooeyescript.

I have become a convert to AutoIt (

http://www.autoitscript.com).

Very supportive user community, lots of code snippets available, uses Koda form designer (looks like Delphi), and can be compiled into an exe for distribution without source code so you can give it to users who then can't change the script.

Another (and very powerful) option is to switch to PowerShell which can leverage WinForms as well as all of the .Net framework.
