We are moveing an older database to SQL2000; the old data is coming in the form of text files, which we import every two hours. My question is:

Is it better to create one DTS package with several data pumps (one for each text file), OR create a seperate DTS package for each text file?

Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent. -Calvin Coolidge

My preference is to create separate packages and then a master package that executes them all. This way you only have to schedule one package, but it is easy to find the package you want to change if the need arises rahter than sift through all the steps you'd have in one package. It also makes it easier if you have to execute one manually and don't need to execute the others. Use the execute package task in the master package to execute your individual data pump packages.
