Hi

I have an access DB that is split into front end and back end, back end on central server, front end installed on each users PC . The front end has all the Queries and Forms etc and the back end has all the tables. My question is this:

Is is more efficient / quicker to put queries into the back end of front end ? Are there any benfits to putting queries into the back end over having them in the front ?

The generally accepted practice is to put only data tables in the backend and all code, forms, reports, modules & queries in the frontend.

I can't think of why there'd be any performance benefits to putting your queries in the backend.

Thanks..just wondered if with the queries being "closer" to the data they might run slightly faster but it was a long shot..

Cheers

Hope this helps!

BuilderSpec,

I've never tried it but I can't see that it would make any difference as Jet will still return all data to the user's desktop PC and then run the query locally.
