Currently I am running AVG as an anti-virus (after reading about it here), and I update it nightly, so it's current. My question is, is there a good free trojan scanner that I could be running as well?

LOL-Call me paranoid, but I update AVG, scan, run Ad-Aware, and WindowWasher daily. And now I want to scan more?

Thanks in advance.

If you're doing all of that, you probably don't need to do anything else.

Blackcode.com has a free online trojan scan. You sound a little paranoid, (like me). Look around the forums there, and see how these (mostly) kids hack. It will help you defend your computer.

Oh, and get a firewall. If you have a Trojan, it will keep it from connecting.

What I am doing is running Trojancheck. It does not scan. but it reports Activities like Modifying registry, *.ini files and modifying the Autostart.

I think it is pretty reliable.

But a Virusscan is most important, because most Trojans are detected by that way. But Never forget to keep the definitions up to date.

I use AGV anti-virus. It tells me that some (4) of my files have been infected with a trojan horse virus. When I scan the drive, AGV does not remove or cure these files.

I purchased a Trojan & Virus program and it says exerything is fine.

What should I do?

Post, copy & paste what AVG said, maybe someone can help you that way

OK, how about a firewall? I've heard a lot about ZoneAlarm. Anyone have any opinions? And should I have had it on PC already? I've had DSL for about a year now... confusedlady

When you have dsl I think a firewall is more important than virus scan, or just as important. Hackers claim that ZA is easily bypassed. But any firewall is better than none

If you can get a router with a built-in firewall, that's even better. I wouldn't connect to my DSL without a firewall of some sort. Basic computing.
