If you've got a leaky bucket, you soon reach the point where you realise that trying to fix it with sticky tape, mastic, plumbers putty, plastic sheeting etc just is not going to work. Even though lots of clever people have provided you with the sticky tape etc for free, or for a small charge, the bucket still leaks. As soon as you've pretty well fixed one hole, another appears in a completely different place. You find you are spending more and more time mending the bucket (and reading about seemingly unstoppable holes other people have in their buckets (coincidentally the same make)), instead of using the bucket to carry water.

One day, someone brings out a new Firefox bucket. This really doesn't leak at all as far as you can see. What's more it's quite free.
And then you wonder why everyone doesn't use it?
