FAX over ITG 3

Main PABX has ITG and branch PABX dial out through the main PABX's ITG. Fax from main PABX, there's no issue. FAX from branch PABX also goes through the main PABX over ITG. But from branch PABX, FAX does not goes through. All systems are 11c.

When configuring ITG with OTM, you need to validate G711 codec in DSP profile tab and move it under G729. That way all voice calls will use G729 and faxes will move to G711 when negociating fax transmission.

You also have to check if the network have avaliable bandwidth when trying to send fax (200k at disposal)

Then some faxes machines never works with VoIP, especially Canon.

might try the faxa cls in that setup, may not be the answer. had a simular issue, faxa worked over the itg and the pri but wouldn't work over the older t1.. in that case i had to force the fax over the pri, and cls faxd.

Facts:
ITG
ITG 2.0

Symptoms:
Fax over ITG is not working.

Cause:
ITG nodes are not all on the same release of ITG software ITG22424.mms. If you have a ITG card with ITG2419 software you cannot fax to a remote ITG node with ITG22424 software on the ITG card. They must have all cards on ITG2419 software or all cards on ITG22424.

Fix:
Check the version of software on every ITG card using the ITG command swVersionShow on all nodes. Upgrade the cards found on ITG2419 to ITG22424.mms.

I thought about that, but that would not be issue if you can fax between the sites. Can you do that? I got the impression from your post that it is Site B faxing to the outside world via Site A PSTN connections. Site A and Site B are connected via ITG2 cards.

If you can fax Site A to B, then it would most likely be something else.

Scott,

Site B is able to sent FAX using X-Cot lines (temp solution).

If site B want to make external call, the call will reach site A(via ITG) and from there PRI link to carrier.

Test call made to the FAX number (destination) by site A works OK

FAX (site B)<--via ITG-->(site A)<---PRI--->FAX destination
---------->This one fails<---------------
When test call made from site B user will hear blank but still the connection is alive.

So can you send a fax from Site A to Site B? Just between your two sites.

No I can't.

Then your issue is the firmware mismatch on the ITG. We (My WAN guru and I) did a presentation on VoIP using ITG in 2002 at Global Connect and this was an issue. It is really just 24.19 does not play nice with any other version. Upgrade to 24.24 and you should be good to go. We had this issue as well.

OK here is a hint.
Select the basic fax CODEC
Now make sure you fax machines are not using a special high speed control.. They can use any special protocols
Usally a Sharp will regonize a sharp fax hand shake and then they use there special SHARP protocol
Gotta turn it off the fax machines.
WE had problem at our branches sooo


Trust me
